If you do have private health that covers chiropractic then all you need to do is bring your card with you and we can claim it on the spot so you need only pay the gap.
Medicare does not automatically cover chiropractic services. However, if you have a chronic condition that may benefit from chiropractic services talk to your GP about your eligibility of getting a Medicare referral to come and see us.
Yes. Chiropractic is a healing discipline firmly grounded in science. Few other health care interventions have been assessed as extensively as chiropractic manipulation, both in terms of safety and effectiveness. There have been at least six formal government studies into chiropractic worldwide over the last 29 years and all have concluded that chiropractic care is safe, effective and cost-effective. In addition, there have been countless scientific clinical studies assessing chiropractic treatment that have also shown the vast benefits of chiropractic care.
Chiropractic care cannot “cure” these conditions, but there is some evidence to indicate that adjustment may have a beneficial effect on a variety of conditions. A chiropractic adjustment may alleviate some of the secondary, or referred pain, arising from the response of the musculoskeletal structures to the primary cause. For example, research conducted in Denmark resulted in chiropractic treatment being recommended for the relief of infantile colic. Similarly, a recent U.S. study concluded that the application of manipulative techniques in children with recurring ear infections may prevent or decrease surgical intervention or antibiotic overuse.
X-rays can play an important role in diagnosis however they are not necessary for all cases. Following a full history and examination, your chiropractor will determine if x-rays are necessary for you. We do not have x-ray facilities on site, so if required, our chiropractor will give you a referral form to a local and qualified x-ray clinic where you can bulk bill the cost through Medicare.
Yes, children can benefit from chiropractic care. Children are physically active and often experience bumps and falls as part of their daily activities and sports. Incidences like these may cause many symptoms including back and neck pain, stiffness, soreness or discomfort. Our chiropractor believes in individual care for patients of all ages and modifies his adjustment techniques for each patient. Chiropractic care is a highly skilled treatment, and in the case of children, very gentle.
A chiropractic adjustment, also called a manipulation, is a manual procedure that utilises the highly refined skills developed during five years of intensive chiropractic education. The chiropractor typically uses his/her hands to manipulate the joints of the body, particularly the spine, in order to reduce pain, and restore or enhance joint function.
Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. The chiropractor adapts the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient.
The adjustment of a joint causes a change in pressure and may release a bubble of gas that was held between the joints. The resulting “popping” sound is not painful and is exactly the same as when you “crack” your knuckles.
In the majority of cases a chiropractic adjustment is painless and most patients feel an immediate relief.
In some cases – such as following a recent injury – the muscles and ligaments around the joint may be painful and inflamed. When this happens any pressure on the area, including an adjustment, will cause some discomfort.
If the area is too sensitive to tolerate the pressure from a chiropractic adjustment we will use other techniques such a gentle mobilisations or heat to help facilitate healing so that an adjustment will be more tolerable in subsequent visits.
Chiropractic adjustments in our clinic do not require you to undress or change into a clinic gown. Simply wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.
Yes, like medical doctors, chiropractors refer patients to other health professionals when needed. Chiropractors are well trained to recognise risk factors as well as individual disease patterns and will not hesitate to make a referral when it is in the best interest of the patients health.
The goal of your initial visit and examination is to determine what is causing your problem and ensure that you are a candidate for chiropractic care. If we feel that your condition is not a chiropractic case, or would be better treated by a medical doctor or other healthcare provider, you will be referred accordingly.
We have been working with other health care providers in our community for many years and can give you our recommendation when needed for doctors, massage therapists, physiotherapists, naturopaths, acupuncturists and bowen therapists.
If you are currently working with another health provider we are happy to work in conjunction with them and to share our findings in regard to your case in order to help you reach your optimal health.
